Washington trip

Finally, a little on our trip to DC last week. I loved it. It's always nice to get some fresh air outside of the little egg sized town we live in. That drive stinks, but it was well worth it. We love seeing family and it was really sweet of my father in law to invite us to tag along his business trip. We knew we wouldn't have time for much since we weren't planning to stay long, and because Dad had work to do, but we got to tour a little.
Every time I've been to out to Dc I've wanted to stop by the Lincoln memorial. He was one of my favorite U.S president. So that was our first stop.
Our only problem was not having a stroller out there. We took taxis so we had to carry miss Mia's big ol' car seat all over town with us. We took turns because it's quite the arm workout.
We went to the art museum next. I love art. I'm not gonna lie, some of them are sketchy, but it's still art. Tyler was mocking this one of the lady sewing. Doesn't it look like Mia is copying her daddy? Too cute.
Here's dad in front of a George Washington painting (on wood instead of original canvas). I thought that was neat.
We stopped by the Vietnam memorial, and the Newseum. It was really cool. [No pictures for those].
Mia & Grandpa McCurdy
Then we enjoyed some dinner and some quality time together. I'm so glad we went. You have to appreciate & cherish each moment spent with family! :)

Awkward & Awesome Friday

Awkward:
  • Having 3 weeks worth of garbage out by the shed. Gosh it reeks. We've forgotten to take the trash out for pick up three weeks in a row. We're not gross.. Let me explain. One week was a Holiday (Martin Luther K. Day), another week Tyler overslept, and one week I took it out 10 minutes too late. I saw the truck, but they didn't care to come back. Once they've been down your street they won't come back.
  • My long explanation for a now stinky driveway
  • Watching bachelor with Tyler this week and his dad. Super duper embarrassing, it's not always like that..  Well it is, big time, but we've gotten used to it. (Probably not the best thing)
  • Having a not very intelligent person block my car in the library, and writting this person a not so nice note. Then having someone literally help me get my car out of that teeny space i had to maneuver through.
  • Mia's extremely loud blow outs. When it's dead silent. Gotta love my kiddo.
  • Stealing, borrowing, claiming some more paint chips. None of you said it was wrong. Only tyler. So i'm gonna take as many as i can until proven otherwise.
  • Printing over 100 pages of chemistry notes and having everyone at the library backed up, because I totally took over the printer. My bad.
  • Being close to crying over a batch of cookies that didn't work out. True fatty speaking.
Awesome:
  • Soothies I have a pretty good baby, but when she starts fussing only mr. binks can calm her down. I've tried other cute paci's but she refuses them. Spoiled? Maybe.
  • Going to DC this week for a short visit with Tyler's dad. (pictures soon)
  • Fresh wheat bread. DIVINE. Thanks to sister Caputo
  • Getting a second batch of cookies to work. Spoken by a true fatty again. AWESOME.
  • A much needed hair trim. Goodbye split ends.
  • My baby. She knows exactly who we are and smiles every time she sees one of us. She's also discovered her hands and has been drooling all over.
  • Playing taboo with our new friends. (Lindsey & Brock). It was so much fun-I almost peed my pants- I laughed so much.
  • One of my best friends announced her pregnancy and I have been going crazy planning details for an awesome shower. Even though she's not even quite 2 months yet. You can never be too prepared!!!

Early gifts..

Confession:
My birthday just passed (December 7th), meaning I've got a way's to go until my next one. Problem is I've already asked for my gift early... Like way early as in NOW. I've been sneaking my way with this for a while. Ask my mom. She'll totally blab on me. You see when I want something that I know I may possibly not get, I use the "Please?, As a birthday gift?!! Tyler and I were talking about my scheming the other night when I somehow used my birthday conning on him [of all people].. (I'm not even sure what it was I asked for)... Which goes to prove I really do.not.need.it.!  He pointed out that my birthday was less than a month ago, in other words- Not gonna happen babe, nice try".. I told him it could be my Valentine's gift then. Ha!! who are we kidding? But I want to know.. How many of you have used this line before? Have you heard it from someone else? Or am I the only one?

I remember what is on my wishlist....

Any essie nail polish. I'm completely obsessed. Especially the chinchilly one and in stitches. A girl can dream.

Away we go

Tyler and I decided last minute to drive up to Washington DC for a few days. His dad is up there on a business trip so we wanted to go visit with him for a little bit. I've actually been thinking that before we move west coast I would love to enjoy and visit my favorite places east coast. Like DC, NY, Boston and maybe even the Cape for some beach time. I've never been to the Lincoln memorial and the Washington monument. One of our first dates was actually in D.C so it holds a special place in our hearts. I love the museums and the city. I'm hoping we'll get a lot done tomorrow and to have some pictures up soon! Don't forget to enter check out for a chance to win a headband!! Leave me a comment on which you would get! Winner will be announced tomorrow!!

Projects

Ever since miss Mia was born, I haven't had too much time to craft. Although newborns sleep so much, it's not all at once. Sometimes it's hard to get things done. Thank heavens for pinterest. Whenever I get a second I come online and find all these amazing things! So here's some of the projects that I have been working on and plan on showing off soon...
                                                              via Crazy Wonderful
Katie and I have been working on this clutch since Tuesday. It wasn't hard, but our time is limited as we try to watch Bachelor and try to sew in-between commercials.
                                                                  via Thrifty Decorating
Tonight we'll be working on this beauty. We already have all of our materials, so while we watch Grey's we'll try to start and finish it.
I'm also working on this:
                                                            via Grace and Light

I feel bad, but I have to confess that I too have been robbing Walmart of these paint chips. Is it really stealing though? Aren't they there to be taken and used to make your home prettier? They aren't for sale because you can't buy them. You just take. Right? ? ? Whenever I grab a few Tyler just rolls his eyes. What do you guys think? Am I in the wrong?.

New blog, New post, New Year!

My lovely friend Ashton from Something Swanky, just designed this blog design to spruce things up a little bit! What do you guys think? I've been terrible at blogging, and I fully intend of blaming part of that to my boring ol' format. It just wasn't doing it for me. BUT... New blog, new posts, New year! Which reminds that I have yet to write down my new years resolution. It's okay to start mid January. What isn't allowed is quitting mid January. So I should be good.
