White coat ceremony

Tyler has been a medical student for three weeks now, not including orientation week. So almost a month already. Really? Has it been that long? Only what feels like a bazillion more to go. It really hasn't been all that bad. So many people had thrown their "oh no, you're gonna be a single parent" "oh thats tough" "good luck" at us that i was excited yet all the same freaking out inside. Would i be ok? Would mia have daddy time? Am i gonna be super lonely? Are we going to make new friends? is our marriage gonna fall apart? how hard is it really going to be? Granted i in deed have some mini melt downs (one during the orientation ceremony where some other wives/students give you their spiel on their life and experiences. One wife (bless her heart), such a sweetie said that yea the married guys will find themselves at times struggling internally because they may see some of the singles doing better on a test because they had more time to study.... then came the tears... I don't want tyler to ever resent moo & i. I don't want him to feel like we're somehow holding him back. And that's whats been so hard for me. because i know he has to find a balance that works for him and incorporate our family into it all. luckily, my brother was visiting during all of this so he was a little comfort.

Anyways.. enough about me.

Tyler's class has approximately 150 people (out of 4,000 applicants i'm glad he's one of those 150's). They each had to introduce themselves. "Hi, I'm student doctor ________, and I'm from_______". that's him 6th man in line.

Here he is after having received his white coat. I was on the balcony with mia because we got there right on time instead of earlier for better seats. next time..

Our little family. This is what i've been dealing with on a daily bases. Even when tyler says oh let me hold her, she clings to my neck. I'm having a love/hate situation with that.
Here's to you my student doctor. My love. My best friend. My hero. You're going to be such a good doctor. I'm so proud of you darling.

1.2.3 Testing.

.... testing..
I'm back (again)
I've been a slacker with my blog and I have loads of stuff that i need to catch up on. When I started this blog it was merely just to say "oh yea i blog too", then when I was pregnant with little moo it helped to get my thoughts/feelings down and record some of the bump pictures. Since we moved out to Denver (nearly two months ago), I haven't found the motivation or time to actually put into this blog. but no more excuses. i want to get back into it. Not just for me, but for our family and friends that are far. It helps them to be able to keep tabs on us, especially miss mia who is growing up way to fast. Since I last posted Mia has changed so much-  it breaks my heart to not have some weekly updates online for her grandma's to see. Here are a few of the one's i've captured to kinda of illustrate our summer thus far.
Mia & Mommy at the pool. little fish loves getting in the water and people watching. I always joke with tyler. I mean seriously? look how white mia is compared to me (granted I get pretty tanned in the summer), i could pass off as mia's foreign babysitter rather than her mother ;/ Don't forget you're brazilian kiddo.
Baby & Dad at the Garden of Gods. If she spots a fan or lights this face happens.. ;)
Here we are again at the pool. Little ballerina.
 Miss gangsta. She loves sucking on the tylenol bottle. This was around the time that those two bottom teeth decided to creep up on us. { 6 months}

She hates HATES  car rides, after 20 minutes she's done. She'll try wiggling herself out, start crying, tugging on her seat belt and give you the stink eye. Look at that glare!! I try to sit once in a while so that she actually feels like someone is listening. but really i would hate to face the chair too. Thanks grandma for letting us borrow those baby movies. it has kept her a little bit happier in the back.

Look at those cheeks. Those dirty little hands that always ALWAYS want to get me dirty. no matter what shirt i'm wearing. white? new? who cares mama. I love this bug so much. I never knew it was possible to have so much love for such a little person, but man alive, i adore this girl. She's the sunshine of my life.

*More on our summer, medical school, RVU wives, half marathon, boston, and some more mia uploads coming soooon...

laughs and giggles

While we're staying with dad and Wendy's for a couple of weeks until our new house is ready, we've put Mia in the kid's room. There are mornings when she wakes up and just lays in her pack & play talking to herself. I can appreciate those mornings because (a) it means I get a few extra minutes to cuddle in bed with tyler, and (b) hearing her little laugh as she talks to the ceiling is so welcoming and soothing. I'm not sure what it is exactly that makes her laugh and giggle to herself but I do love those giggles. There's also a big cuddly bear on the bed beside her so when she wakes up she loves giving that big bear a smooch. It's as if he's kept her safe and company through the night and she needs to go thank him. Whatever the reason behind those smiles and laughter, I'm glad I get to witness them each morning!

storms and backyard fun

It's suppose to be awesome and awkward Thursdays over here, but luckily for all of us there haven't been many awkwards. Just tons of awesomeness. If of course you exclude the crazy hail/thunder & lightning storm tyler and i faced yesterday. seriously almost peed my pants while crying and praying all in the same time. If you know me you know that my biggest fear is thunder and lighting. I'm not ashamed to say that even at 23 years of age i get freaked out. I'm pretty sure that isn't going away, as hard as tyler may try. And try he does. This hail storm that i mention had hail the size of a golf ball. We were in the car when it started and it sounded like metal popcorn popping on our car. Miss Mia didn't cry, surprisingly, but she did cling on to her mama. it was such a comfort for both of her and i to be holding bands in the back seat.

Aside from that, we've been having a very productive week trying to find a place to call home. There have been some nice and not some nice findings. We've also been having some fun in the backyard on the trampoline and having some picnic time in the sun.

I love seeing these two together. It makes my day ;)

"Heaven is here"

Do you guys remember when I shared a clip about Stephanie (NieNiedialogues)? Well I have been wanting her book Heaven is Here  for a while. Lucky for me, I have an amazing and thoughtful sister in law who without knowing got me that book for mother's day. Thanks again tasha! It has been such an emotional read. There are days that just looking at the cover makes me cry while other instances bring me the most comforting feeling and courage. Then there are paragraphs that I find challenging to even finish without getting choked up. This is by far my favorite book/memoir. One of the reviews says" I recommend this book to anyone who needs a reminder of just how strong the human spirit is".. And it's just that. A beautiful reminder. I haven't finished it yet, because like I said there are days that I can't even face the emotions behind those wonderful words and yet I wasn't the one who faced that accident years ago. Stephanie Nielson is my hero. Her strength, love for her family and faith gives me so much to be grateful for. Have any of you read it? What did you think? If you haven't I honestly think you need to get yourself a copy. It will change you.. and if you don't follow Nienie yet, go here and about her everyday outlook on life. It is so truly inspiring.

A 5k, Bbq

This past weekend my inlaws signed us all up to do a 5k for the Heart Walk in Colorado Springs. We've been trying to walk every day for a couple of weeks now and Mia loves it. She is so alert and observant. She doesn't make a peep until you're back in the house or she's back in her car seat (what happened this weekend). I want to get better at running and still intend on following through my new years resolution of running a half marathon. remember from this post? It's June so it's time to re-check those resolutions and get moving!
After our 5k we went to this brazilian all you can eat churasco place and totally canceled out all the workout we did in the morning. but it was so worth it! Have you guys ever been or heard of Tucanos? I loved their fried banana (just like my mom used to make growing up), and their glazed pineapple. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We'll definitely be going back. At one point Tyler tossed a couple cheesy bread into Mia'. diaper bag, he just couldn't get enough.
